Job Type: The successful candidate will be contracted as a scientist under a term employment contract.
Job Salary: In accordance with the work experience and qualification of the candidate.
Job Location: Regia Douro Park, Vila Real, Portugal.
Job Description and Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will join the Fraunhofer Portugal AWAM team in Vila Real to support laboratory activities and contribute to ongoing research projects. The candidate should have previous experience in a laboratory setting and demonstrate a strong work ethic and dedication to precision, ensuring the generation of accurate experimental results.
The successful candidate is expected to demonstrate close attention to detail and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team while managing tasks across different projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Operation of laboratory equipment, experimental data collection, processing and analysis, and documentation of results.
- Preparation and physicochemical characterization of solid, semi-solid, and liquid samples.
- Assistance with the general maintenance and cleaning of the laboratories and equipment therein.
- Preparation of chemical solutions and reagents and ensure the safe disposal of waste.
- Assistance with administrative tasks (e.g., stock management) to ensure the smooth operation of the laboratories.
- Previous experience in laboratory work will be highly valued.
- General know-how in laboratory safety protocols is a plus.
- Pro-active attitude and strong work ethic.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, chemistry, or similar.
